the story

A father and son design

Dave's son, Jack, received a 3D printer for his birthday, sparking a creative challenge: design an EDC screwdriver with onboard bit storage. Inspired by research into vintage screwdriver designs, father and son collaborated on a project that resulted in a refined, no-nonsense tool with a tactile feel and a distinctive knurled handle.

A 3D printer opens a new kind of creativity for the new generation of designers. It wasn't perfect but it showed the team it was going to be a winner.

When the first machined prototype arrived, it was evident that Jack had perfectly captured our signature vintage styling.

This father-son collaboration, a testament to family creativity, was named The Phil screwdriver, in honour of Dave's father (Phil).
