Well that's up to you, but perhaps it could be for holding multiple tools, a folding knife, a flashlight, your phone, compact camera, a small first aid kit if you are adventuring outdoors, or maybe it could be for carrying your dog walking essentials like baggies, treats and a ball? It can also clip onto a pack, bicycle or motorbike pannier. We want YOU to show us how YOU use it.

The Marksman EDC utility pouch has been developed, prototyped, and handcrafted in our small workshop near Inverness in Scotland. It can be used solo for throwing in the car, or using its D-rings to clip to a pack or pannier, but we've also worked hard on ensuring it is modular and versatile with our own optional clip-on/clip-off belt-loop system (avoiding the hassle of having to undo your belt to take it off), or matching leather shoulder strap/sling if you prefer. It's the perfect hard-wearing everyday carry leather pouch or small shoulder bag for carrying your own selection of tools or gear on your own adventures, whether it's an expedition to the mountains or coast, or just down the local park.

the story

Re-imagining a classic WWII ammo pouch

The Marksman was inspired by a WWII era magazine pouch Dave came across around 3 years ago, namely the Swedish Model 37 BAR Leather Magazine Pouch as seen in the image, designed to carry 2 x 20 round magazines for the Swedish version of the 6.5 calibre M37 Browning Automatic Rifle (BAR).

The original quality and thickness of the leather used for its construction was obvious as it had to be tough as it was intended to be used in some extreme and rugged places. Over the decades though it has softened down nicely to be very supple now. But it was also the other subtle details like the strength and durability of the rivets used to hold it together, and the neat folds used to construct the corners - not easy in new thick leather.

He kept it knocking about the workshop for two or three years before finally taking it in on holiday recently to carry some gear with him. After wearing it every day the realisation dawned that this really was a cool and very versatile little pack and perhaps there was scope for an updated version. Thus the idea for the Marksman leather EDC utility pouch was born.
