We created the Sharpie® Mini Caddy to be a sleek and portable EDC case that fits the Sharpie Mini and keeps it protected while you're out and about. But it's more than just a protective case. The perfect solution for those who value function and form, the Sharpie Mini Caddy takes your Sharpie from mini to mighty, thanks to its magnetised lid. With its titanium and brass versions, it elevates your mini marker to a dependable full-size writing tool, ready to capture your ideas on the go. This is a must have for all that love the best everyday carry Brass and Titanium stationery. 

Back in 2023 when we launched our first Sharpie Mini Caddy and we never expected it to become our a best seller amongst our EDC community. It just goes to show the global love for Sharpie® permanent markers that is out there. We wanted to play our part in respecting this iconic tool and helping take the experience of using one as part of your everyday carry to the next level with a premium quality brass or titanium case. It had to look the part with its own simple, rugged, reliable build, and follow our vintage aesthetic as a nod to the legacy of engineers and workshop denizens down the ages. The hexagonal shape and milled cap give the Sharpie Mini Caddy MkII a timeless look and it fits snugly in your hand, looks great clipped onto your pocket, or added to your favourite EDC wallet carry.

Now with this MkII version we have made some well-considered changes to compliment the design of our new full-size Sharpie Caddy.

 

The Upgrades

  1. Sleeker. The MkI version has the clip attached to the lid, whereas the MkII now has the lid at the opposite end from the clip. This means that once removed for use, the lid snaps on above the clip via its super-strong neodymium magnets, and the clip is now in line with the direction of the pen when in use therefore for a much sleeker look.
  2. Faster to deploy. The MkII lid also has a much reduced thread now resulting in a very satisfying half turn on and off rather than the 4 full turns of the MkI.
  3. Deep Carry. A further benefit is that the clip itself is now full-size for deep pocket carry and integrated into the rear cap design (that you unscrew to replace the Sharpie Mini), removing the need for the previous screws needed to hold it in place.
  4. Stylish. The MkII lid looks smarter with a contrasting milled finish rather than the previous smooth finish which matched the body. The main body meanwhile retains its hexagonal profile, keeping it comfortable to use and perfect for adding engraving should you wish.
  5. Slimmer. Side by side the MkII has a slight reduction in size of 3mm in both open with pen and closed forms.
  6. Cleaner. The recess in the cap of the MkII where the magnet sits to accept the lid magnet, has been reduced to make it easier to remove any metal shavings or other dirt that might get caught in there.
  7. Smarter. A final difference is that the MkI shows most of the plastic top of the Sharpie Mini when open, whereas the MkII only shows the tip now for a more solid metal and elegant aesthetic.

the story

Two years in the making

The Sharpie Mini Caddy, conceived by Dave in 2021, was an idea that many said wouldn't work. Yet, against all odds, it is seen in hundreds of carry's and has shipped around the world. We've been humbled.

Inspired by the Fisher Space Pen, with its compact closed form that transforms into a full-sized pen when open, Dave envisioned a similar mechanism for a marker pen, incorporating vintage design language and the playful functionality of magnets.

In the early days of Silver Fox, bringing this vision to life was a significant challenge. Finding a machinist capable of executing the design to our exacting standards proved difficult. After working with three different machinists and creating numerous prototypes, the Sharpie Mini Caddy finally launched in 2023, two years after the initial idea was born.

Now a further 3 years on and it's time to unveil the Sharpie Mini Caddy MkII - the next step in the evolution of this very popular EDC item.
