The traditionally known Japanese Kiridashi knife is a multi function single right bevelled tool. Often sold as a Japanese marking knife, the stiff blade of the Kiridashi truly excels at heavier cuts. It's our go to every day carry knife for leather processing in the workshop. At a chunky 5mm and heat treated it will take a beating and keep its edge.

To homage where the design came from we called this unique EDC knife the 'Kitsune Kiridashi Knife' which is the Japanese word for Fox.

These EDC, hand forged blades are also awesome tools for carving, scraping and marking.

Comes with a hand stitched, Italian leather sheath.

Bringing Japanese design and Scottish craft together

The Japanese Kiridashi was the next on the list for us to make after the Jack Axe in 2020. We loved the simplicity of these vintage knives.

Using an off-cut of tool steel from a batch of Jack Axes, Dave got to work on the piece of metal with a grinder to create the shape. No computer designs needed for this prototype. Just keep shaping the metal until we got to a shape we liked. Then it was over to George to make a sheath.

A great EDC combo with sheath and fox tail.

I have two EDC’s, one I carry everywhere and the second is a heritage EDC, still practical, useful but completed with form being very much in partnership with function (see photographs). My heritage EDC is based on Silver Fox kit but with a few notable mentions.

I bought this knife because as a heritage buy it looks beautiful. Delivery was good and it feels brilliant in the hand. Don’t get me wrong, I mostly use it for opening packages but I have used it for taking cuttings from plants. It has remained sharp but I accept that use will dull the edge. I do however like maintaining blades whether they be knives, scissors, chisels or lawnmower. Bring it on. The stamping of the first 100 is genius and it makes a special knife feel more special.

I admit, I do buy a lot of your products, so I am biased, and honestly I only bought this to treat myself for my bday, so had no expectations on what I was getting, but I am so happy I purchased this knife! It's so unique, but I just like its functionality to be honest. I have found myself looking for it, more than many of my other knives. The included sheath is great - it's a cool looking combo. Out of the box super sharp, and I'm looking forward to seeing how she holds up and ages!
